To blog or not to blog....

Creating a blog was relatively painless.  I feel this is a great tool for discussing ideas and soliciting feedback.  But how does one have enough time to moitor and direct discussion?  One must be careful in what type of healthcare information is being shared on a blog as confidentiality is crucial.

I'm looking forward to experiencing and gaining insight into additional Web 2.0 offerings!!

At What Price Medicine

   Medicine for the brain is incredibly complex.  Yet, the joke goes around medical circles that Neurologists are admirers of disease, not treater's of it.  This is far less true now than forty years ago, and is rapidly becoming less and less true everyday, but that small kernel of truth does say something about we who are drawn to the field.  I really do find the disease processes that affect brain function seriously fascinating.   read more »

Health care's virtuous cycle

Last night I watched Hopkins, the final episode of the much-praised ABC documentary series about life inside Johns Hopkins hospital. Riveting and heart-wrenching. And better than ER ever was because it's real life. Watching (and crying) last evening took me back to January, when both of my parents were in a hospital in Pennsylvania and clinging to life.  read more »
