Government Guns

The thinking on health care goes like this:

1.  Health care is a right (of course you can't find that right in the Constitution anywhere, but that's the premise)

2.  The government should pay for everybody's health care

Doesn't that lend itself to:

1.  Gun ownership is a right (which you can actually read in the Constitution)

2.  The government should buy everybody guns

OR:

Cynic McCain picks Sarah Palin as his VP mate

Perhaps McCain believes that a pretty face will get him more votes.

Perhaps McCain believes that the bitter people are so bitter that they will forget all about the REAL ISSUES and vote for a woman, any woman.

Sarah Palin was once the mayor of the 9th largest city in Alaska.  Population of just over 5500.

Although young, female, and definitely inexperienced, Sarah Palin promises to bring the spirit of Dick Cheney with her to the vice presidency if McCain-Palin is elected this November.

More beneath the fold . . .

Army Life

I just watched another 30 second report on CNN showing an Army wife complaining about Soldiers being deployed. She was standing outside of her two story nice home with a BMW 328i and a Lincoln MKX in the drive way. Both of her kids had fully stocked bedrooms of toys, TV's, video game and tons of other stuff. This young lady stated they had been married for about 8 years and that her husband had been serving in the military for about 12 years. I have also been serving for 12 years. Now this brings to mind a few points. One, she married him when he had alredy been serving for a few years.  read more »

Meet Jane Chen: Co-Creator of Low-Cost Infant Incubators

Jane Chen’s words of advice to women reading this “Following the Fellows” series are, “Follow your passions, and dare to dream to change the world.” This advice might sound hollow coming from some, but from Jane Chen, 2007–08 Selected Professions Fellow, it rings true.  read more »

I Am A "Desperate American." Dear Future President...

I had to put this on paper.  The presidential elections have hit me hard.  I didn't expect it, still don't understand it.  So I tried to put it in words today.

Dear Future President:

You may be the last president of my life.  Because of that, please hear my story.

I did everything right…everything everyone says you should do.

 I’m in a new class, a self-proclaimed “Desperate American.”   read more »
